A broken-hearted guy sent me a mix CD with "Thanksgiving" on it from Poi Dog Pondering's Wishing Like a Mountain and Thinking Like the Sea. For me, it brought a whole new meaning to the band. If I told you some of the other song titles from that mix CD you might get the idea of what kind of breakup ours was.

Bad?

I bought Wishing Like a Mountain... in my junior year or soon after it came out. I really, really tried to like it as much as the first one, but could never really get into it. I should give it another chance now that I have their Chicago-era albums and love them.

I taught aerobics in the late eighties and early nineties. Yes, I wore thong leotards, leg warmers and head bands -- but I digress. I used Poi Dog Pondering's music on my aerobics playlists. Bet I was the only aerobics instructor on the planet who did such nonsense. Of course, I also used They Might be Giants, The The, Crowded House, Was Not Was, Mike and the Mechanics, Flock of Seagulls,as well as various 70's groups. No Janet Jackson, "What have you done for me Lately," for THIS girl.
