That is a bittersweet story, Alex. Families are complicated. Your writing makes me want to take my parents out to a meal somewhere. And laugh heartily.

You make me smile. :)

Keep going with the family stuff. It is good.

(I understand about the big family/confusion thing. As it stands right now, along with my parents, I have two sisters, three brothers [we go girl, boy, girl, boy, girl, boy -- just like the Brady Bunch],two sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, two nieces, four nephews and counting.)

I really liked that. I am in a similar situation as you with the step mom stuff. I don't know if I have gotten to your point yet, however.

Also, if I tried to make witty names for all of my relatives, that would take up all the space in my brain and I couldn't remember all these dumb movie quotes.

Honestly, I have a hard enough time remembering my siblings/nieces/nephews real names, let alone any names I might make up for them. Scarily, I've inherited my mother's disease of going through the names of everyone in my family until I hit the right one. Thankfully I don't always do this out loud (like my mum does).

Also, dance monkeyboy, dance!

I do the same thing. It was never considered rude when I was growing up to go, "Rog...I mean Kev...I mean Fra...I mean Crabapple" Here though, in the south, where we are always supposed to be polite it gets me in trouble.
