Apparently the viagra and tramadol ferries have found my website and have been spamming the hell out of my comments. I had to switch to moderating every comment. So, if I have any readers after my long absense and you try to comment, you will not see the comment immediately. I now have to approve each one. Sorry for the inconvenience, but I don’t want to be indirectly responsible for another loss like that of Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

I just noticed that now when prompted to comment it says among other things “no profanity.” As the title of this post indicates, I appreciate a really good swear word. Please use as much profanity as you deem appropriate. Ignore the Wordpress/K2 sprites that tell you otherwise.

Spam Karma is your friend, and is very easy to install — spam comments on my blog were getting way out of control, so one drunken night I gave in to Mr C’s Spam Karma suggestion and installed it (I also deleted my trackback file for good measure…). I haven’t had a single spam problem since.

Also, you might want to change your permissions for members to your site — I had to become a member to make this comment, and although I didn’t try, it seems you have permissions set to allow members to post and whatnot…

Thanks crumpet. I will keep it in mind. It took me a couple of weeks since Frank told me about unsleepable 2.0 to upgrade my site, so I’m not sure I’m going to get right on that, but I appreciate it. Besides, now you will know for sure that I will read your sweet missives.

I already have to moderate every comment, because people, in general, are assclowns. That’s right, I said it: assclowns. 
As far as spam: I use Akismet. It’s been a lifesaver for me.
